Ever wanted a simple tool to just backup a database and archive itusing a single command line?

Have you ever used sql express versions of a SQL Server and had to find complicated ways to take a simple backup?

Well then you are in luck, this is a simple tool that connects to your database server, takes a backup and then uses 7zip to archive it with applicable YYYYMMDD reference.

Syntax: bdb.exe SQLSERVER username password database "full storage path"

Use bdb.exe /? for help.

To download it use the following links:

32-bit bdb.exe 728kb

64.bit bdb_X64.exe 1204kb

Please note: This program is given as is w/out any other warranties. It is configured to run silently so as not to give error messages if something fails. It should be run on the database server. If it is not run on the db server then it will create the backup serverside but not perform any other action.

I'm open to suggestions for future features. :)

Good shit man! Keep it up, small solutions are the best! Like the silent run thing but can I get an option to keep a log file? Maybe in system events?
I can do with a txt file if that's too much.
Cheers,
JM
